2010 Highlights
The 2010 Games saw a turnaround in the weather of recent years and a level of competition that brought down old records and set new ones, that will prove hard to match. Two of our competitors, Fred Limback and Jesse Richardson, made their Highland Games debut. Hank Dalley, not new to Highland games teamed up with Jesse as the "youngins" and fought it out for the top two places. Making a huge comeback this year was Paul McCullough, who gave Hank a scare with his third place finish. Mike and Fred filled out the bottom of the bracket, but we tried real hard.
I want to thank all those who came out: Henry and Anna Dalley, Hank Dalley, David Young, Harry and Dorothy McCullough, John and Barb Schmid and Josh Schmid, Jeff LeJune, Fred and Maria Limback and Dante Limback, Paul and Ericka McCullough and their children Ian and Brittany, Franklin McQuay and Duncan McQuay, Jeese Richardson and Katie McLaughlin, Stefan Koslowski and Max McCullough, David McCullough and Jackie Freeberry, Eric and Krista McCullough, Phyllis Arnold, Robin McCullough, and Chase and Jen Elkins. There were thirty-two of us in all to enjoy a great day to be together.
My special thanks go out all of you for supporting the Games; it would not happen if you were not there. Many of you helped by bringing food and drink for all to share. Special thanks to the following folks: Harry and Dorothy McCullough for funding our event, Chuck Trader for field set-up assistance, David and Margaret Young for free parking on their front lawn, Jesse Richardson for arriving early to help with set-up of chairs and tables, David McCullough for manning the two grills, Josh Schmid for balloon works for the young and young-at-heart, Franklin McQuay for piping all afternoon - Bravo!!, Jeff LeJune for the pix, Jesse, Katie, Eric, Krista, David and Jackie for the post-game clean-up, it made our Sunday much easier, and lastly to Robin, who supports me all the way in putting this on each year. You all proved that it takes everyone pulling together to pull this off.
