McHaggis and McBurley, men of renown
Familiar they be with sheaf and stone
Will make their way to Baldwin town
To test their strength afar from home
Stones light and heavy will they hurl
Then comes the weight for distance thrown
The bar awaits as sure as they whirl
For sheaf and weight and mighty stone
Their battle pitched they’ll push ahead
For the hammer beckons to sail through air
And St. Andrew’s wall, as heavy as lead,
Must be certainly moved from here to there
These men of valor cannot yet rest
For stands a mighty beam, the caber be
Their last and most awesome test
To turn the tree for all to see
One in the end will take the prize
McHaggis, McBurley or their host
Upon this day and before all eyes
Of those held dear and loved the most
