2007 McCullough Scottish Games in Review
Mostly sunny skies, temperature near 60, and winds gusting between 10 and 20 mph welcomed the Inaugural gathering of The McCullough Scottish Games, this past Saturday, November 3, 2007. Accentuated by the expert piping of Franklin McQuay, our athletes, judges and scorekeeper, and all our enthusiastic onlookers enjoyed an afternoon of competition. In all, 44 people took part in this celebration of Highland games and gathering of friends and family.
As the director of these Games I extend my thanks to my fellow competitors, Paul McCullough and Chuck Trader for taking up the challenge and sticking with their commitment to participate,
to my wife, Robin, for her steadfast assistance in the preparations for these Games and in supporting the vision,
to our judges, Dan and Eric McCullough and scorekeeper, Krista Schmid, for taking on the task so necessary for the athletes to compete,
to Franklin McQuay who set the musical tone for this Scottish day,
to David and Margaret Young for offering us parking space on their property
(the Brits came through again!),
to those who gave of their time and talent to record the events of the day on camera,
to those who provided food and drink for the outside Tea tent and the inside dinner,
to those who helped re-heat our dinner and serve it to our guests,
to Josh Schmid who entertained us with his magic,
to Fellowship Chapel for the loan of chairs for our dinner,
to Chuck and Miriam Trader for staying late to help us clean up and return chairs, and
to all who attended to make our time together memorable.
